Subject: RE: CaseIH AFS Software update

Since you were running 4.02, you actually need a total of three versions of software to complete this upgrade. The sequence is 4.02 to 4.5 to 5.02 to 5.52. You can't skip any of these versions if you want your existing data to migrate successfully. You actually have both 5.02 and 5.52 on the disk you got with your planter. Look on that disk for MISC\OTHER\AFS_502. If that folder is present, then you're all set. You just need 4.5.

You have two options:

1. IF YOU WANT YOUR EXISTING DATA TO MIGRATE AUTOMATICALLY INTO THE UPDATED SOFTWARE
Contact your dealer or the Case IH AFS customer support center to get the part number for v4.5 software. Uninstall the software you currently have installed. (Your data will not be affected.) Install 4.5, then open it to migrate the data. Repeat for 5.02 (you'll have to manually browse to MISC\OTHER\AFS_502\setup.exe to launch the installer), then for 5.52. When you've completed the data migration for 5.52, you're done.

2. IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT KEEPING YOUR EXISTING DATA, OR IF YOU DON'T MIND REARCHIVING YOUR EXISTING DATA:
Close the AFS software. Go to C:\Program Files\CaseIH AFS\AFS, and rename the Data folder. Call it "Old_Data" or "Jason_Data" or whatever you want. Reopen the AFS software. Your Management Tree will be blank. You can now start archiving new data, or begin rearchiving all your old data from that "Vault" folder you found. Any changes you had made to the data (custom legends, analysis, filters, merging, spatial sorting, etc.) will all be gone and you will have to do it all over if you want the data to look the same.

Contact info for the Case IH support guys is online at caseih.com.
