Scott,
We're running an original, not GS2. We've been using Deere mapping software since days of JDMap. Mapshots provides a much better interface to reading JD cards than any of JD's mapping software. Mapshots FOViewer actually shows properties for every yield file on the Deere card and lets you decide which of those you want to map. That simple, but neat, feature has solved most of the problems we have been having with Deere's software. For some strange reason the Deere folks think computers know which files we want to map. Must be a Midwest thing.

In defense of triple stack, I've never seen corn plants that looked as healthy and were standing as well at end of November as the Doebler triple stack was. The non-GMO Pioneer 36B08 in that field was still mostly standing but no tops or leaves remaining, just lower stalks and heavy ears :) Maturity had a lot to do with corn yields here last year also. We've been dropping maturity recently, lower maturity varieties seem to give more consistent (year over year) yields in our shallow soils and drought conditions. No home runs, just consistent performance year over year. Pioneer 36B08 is our current favorite variety, it will probably be discontinued, soon.
