| Been pricing feed today.
There is a pretty good opportunity right now on feeders. Essentially no price slide from $550 to $800 lbs. Just gotta figure out how to feed em cheaper.
Dry DDG's $174 ton picked up 70 miles away, no availability locally.
Wet DDG's $42 ton@ 70% moisture
Glycerine from the Soydiesel plant $300 ton. Was $150 ton this summer.
Missed a bunch of good alfalfa at less then $100 ton by less than a day.
At these commodity prices, good quality hay is starting to look reasonable again.
If things don't loosen up, it's gonna be an awful tough year on the cow calf guys.
Need to sharpen the pencil and start figuring. | |
