Subject: RE: feterl auger

Central Minnesota
The good; built heavy, I don't think we will ever wear out the flighting on ours (12 X 72)

The hopper is wide so semi opening hits it easy.  It is quite heavy. We don't have power wheels, but I think they would be nice if you have to swing it a lot. We made a small pit to put ours in so we just drive over it instead of swinging it. We think the capacity is good. fairly easy to get at the grease zerks.

The bad; The hopper is heavy so when you back up to bin and let swing hopper down the discharge end will move sideways a bit. Not a big problem, you just have to remember to lead it a bit.  Only break down we have had in 4 years is the 2 small chains in the end of swing hopper  that drive the 2 hopper augers. They don't have a tightener for the chains so when the wore a little the  chain started flopping and the roll pin that held the gears on broke and fell out.  Put a bolt back in and fashioned a tightener last year and no problem.

I would rate the auger as a good buy for our farm.

Here is an example af asking price for a new 82 footer.
