Dumb question about plows

The coulters are usually removed because they cause the plow to plug up worst than with them in a lot of conditons. And as mentioned using one on the back plow leaves a nicer furrow for the plow it run in on the next pass.
Using different types of coulters is also a factor in plugging as is the fact that some folks try to run the coulters too deep. But the quick and dirty fix for plugging is just to take them off.
