Subject: Exhaust Fertilizer

Valparaiso, Indiana
I was reading up on using diesel exhaust as fertilizer and was looking at the pricing. It has an interesting price structure:

Licenses

Initial Technology Use Fee (User License) for 1 BAE System: $15,000 CAD

Each additional BAE System on the same User License: $5000 CAD

Annual Technology Use Fee (License Renewal) per User License: $1500 CAD

Bio-AgtiveTM Emissions Systems

Tractors up to 200 HP: $10,000* CAD

Tractors 201 to 400 HP: $15,000* CAD

Tractors over 401 HP: $20,000* CAD

*Distributors may sell for less.

Example: John Deere 9400 Bio-AgtiveTM Emissions System with 50 foot air drill:

BAE System cost of $15,000 + Technology Use Fee of $15,000 = $30,000 total before tax

Is this the way we will have to buy machinery in the future? After you buy the machine you have to pay a $1500 CAD a year license fee to use the machine. The way I understand the pricing it would be like John Deere saying a combine costs $300,000 plus a $50,000 bullet rotor license fee and then you have to pay $5,000 a year to renew your license to use the machine. Along with GMO crops these tech fees could get out of hand. I bet we see more of this in the future though.
