Subject: RE: trans cooler on 4-150 white

Mid Michigan
I will read the symtom you have and what it says about it in my 4-150 technical service manual.
RELIEF VALVE: If excessive heating is exhibited by the hydraulic system, install flow rater to cooler pump outlet. If flow is not 6.5 gpm at 2400 rpm check gerotor pump by-pass and seat. Malfunctions in this area will allow oil to recirculate within the pump body by-passing the hydraulic oil cooler. It also has a small description of the gerotor pump.
GEROTOR ASSEMBLY: Positive displacement gerotor pump with 6.5 gpm capacity at 2400 rpm is used to circulate hydraulic fluid to oil cooler in front of the radiator. Gerotor pump has a nominal pressure of 100 psi.
I think this sounds like your smoking gun. Don't give up on the old girl yet! Its just old enough to be a classic. I like the 4-150's because they are about the smallest articulated 4x4 that you can buy. Still can pull a wail of a load with them too. Good luck.
