Near Richmond, IN | I run Amsoil 20W-50, MCVQT (the QT means quarts, I think) in the engine and Amsoil 75W-90 in the transmission, although some use Amsoil's heavier weight trans. oil., and right now I'm running Amsoil's universal automatic transmission oil in the primary. I also ran the 20W-50 in the primary too, for a while. It was pointed out on a harley forum I visit a lot (http://groups.msn.com/HarleyTechTalk/tc88fathead.msnw) that using Type F auto transmission oil in the primary will help a lot with shifting and finding neutral. I used the cheap stuff at the auto parts store first and then switched to the syn but it did make a difference in my wife's softail in the ease of shifting. My Road King shifts easy anyway.
That harley forum is a good place to get good info-you just have to watch for a while until you know who to listen to and who not to listen to. | |
