Subject: Carbide boots for a 750?

South cental Ohio
I picked up my parts order today from my friendly nieghborhood JD dealer( and I say that sarcatically). The carbide boots that I paid out the nose for have a bad cast hole in them about where the tention spring would hit. JD says it won't hurt anything but I think seed could bounce out of the hole. Any of you guys purchased these carbide boots and had similar results? Had I know that JD parts would be so "cheaply made" I would have saved some money and bought them from Shoup. Usually I get just a little better quality from Deere(which I pay for) but maybe not this time.
