Subject: Anyone Know Where A 5297 MM-5555 Oliver Combine Is At-Ever Own One?

These combines were built from 1968-70 and were sold as 5297 MM,5555 Oliver,or in Canada as Cockshutt 555's.Here are links to pictures of what they looked like. The 5297 MM was painted red.

I know a MM collector in southern Kansas that has been hunting a 5297 MM combine for 5 years.Last Friday noon it was mentioned on a Minneapolis Moline collectors forum that a like new-always shedded 5297 MM with both heads was scheduled to be cut up in northern Illinois.By the time the MM collector called on Friday evening the combine had already been cut up and was gone.We are seeing alot of this now with high scrap prices.Roger was pretty upset about not getting the 5297 MM and now the search goes on.

I just thought that I'd mention it on here and see if anyone knew of a 5297 MM ,5555 Oliver,or 555 Cockshutt combine. From serial number lists that I have its very possible that less than 1000 total of these combines were ever built and precious few still exist. We would like to see at least one 5297 MM be saved before they are all gone.

A good friend 10 miles away once owned a 5555 Oliver but its long gone.We do know of a few of them that are still around yet.
