I think you are right. We have the Performance Plus monitor that counts seeds/revolution of the drum. hard to make mistakes with it. sensors are in the 80 dollar range 4 years ago since we bought any, still have some spares. I like to keep spare planter parts, hate for it to stop when the ground is right.
