Subject: RE: Slightly off topic ...proposed gas pipeline for several states.

A city in MN got a wild hair to put in a pipeline to feed power plant. The city got judges to go along with eminant domain for 80+ miles of pipeline. It was set up that whole farms were condemned, & they could run the right of way 'somewhere' through the farm when they got that far. The whole thing was very slip-shod, rammed through, poorly planned, developed on the fly.

Absoulutely not one thing of 'your demands' was allowed.

Couple times the progect got judgements against it, but it was being built on the fly & a simple stay from another judge would get the job done before anything could be stopped.

Most of the time national or state projects have a _generally_ good program to compensate farmers.

This city project, with 80 miles of pipeline not on city property - was a real horrid mess. I know several farmers, 3 years later, that have seen no money at all, & the land on the easement is not very productive yet.

Probably doesn't have much to do with your post, but got me thinking/typing again. ;)
