Subject: RE: Switchgrass for hay

North Mo.

switch matures really fast much like reeds . We have baled it several times, the first time it was a pure stand was left too long, seed heads full, made over 9 bales per acres of stuff the cows would not eat worth a hoot. Since then we always bale when just a few heads have emerged and with other forage mixed in with it and its ok. I would recomend a conditioner to break the rather tough stems. Ben
