Subject: RE: IH 466 injection timing

Set engine BTDC timing using marks on the damper pulley or the flywheel markings.

I usually install the pump with the pump gear removed, if you take out the pipe plug on the pump mount you will see the timing pointer, line the pointer up with the scribe mark on the pump drive collar. You will need a good light to see the marks.

Engine timed and pump marks aligned, install pump gear and tighten the bolts.

Give the engine a few cranks, if it makes white smoke and doesn't start, its probably 180 degrees off time. If so, set engine to BTDC timing once more, remove pump gear and turn pump shaft one revolution, align pump marks once more and reinstall pump gear.

Good luck, it should be running.
