Subject: Re: 5 foot tall soybeans, 75 bpa?

My experience tall, rank soybeans don't yield anymore & normally less than avgeraged height plants. Tall plants seem to put more into vegetation than pods. I had some beans 1 year that were so tall that to cut them I ran the reel as high as it would go, beans made less than 30bpa. Right next to them were another variety that was normal height, made over 50bpa. That was an extreme case.

How many pods on a plant, how many beans per pod, how many plants/ac, row width? That will tell you more than height.
