Middlesex County, Ontario | DJI advises to turn the wifi off when flying because wifi = 2.4 ghz, radio controller = 2.4 ghz. There is always the potential for interference but realistically its very low. It may improve range somewhat to turn off the wifi; but you'll lose camera link way before you lose the RC link anyway.
Make sure auto picture upload is turned off.
Make your your iPad settings do not automatically sync pictures to the cloud or anything.
Turn on map caching.
If map caching is set to off, its using data like it does when you are using your device as a GPS while driving your car. Its constantly updating the maps. If you turn on map caching; it will save that map data to your device. You'll only use data when you are flying in a completely new area.
If you want to; you can even cache that map data ahead of time from home somehow. Then you can put iPad in airplane mode when flying.
