It's surely can be worth it if you have the tools and knowledge in place to make a correct and informed decision with the image. Added data sets like yield or Veris for example complement images greatly. I would say though that before the investment look into some cheaper or even free imagery sources via various satellite images (free to $1/acre usually depending on resolution) or a local aerial provider ($1 to $4 per acre depending on total acres taken). These can give you an idea if you'd want to pursue more before a larger commitment with the training and cost UAVs can impose.

Look at it this way with imagery and/or data. Some will say a new tractor, combine, certain equipment...etc will pay more and while that can be true, data can be just as effective if not more than say upgrading equipment. Very dependent on the situation. Best of luck!
