Lincoln, NE | Don't know about your specific craft and firmware - but for my Inspire the latest firmware update (v.1.8.01.00) had the new battery firmware as part of the firmware update.
Always read the release notes on your new firmware before installing it.
If you have more than one battery - you have to cycle all your batteries through the updated aircraft to individually update each battery. If you don't - the app will tell you before you fly without an updated battery.
To cycle for new battery firmware updates just insert each battery in the updated aircraft and let them update - it only takes a minute or so on each battery. When doing this you have to start up and shut down as you normally would for a flight. The battery lights will randomly blink as the update is taking place. You don't have to do your first battery of which you used for the aircraft update because it has already been completed during the aircraft update.
Contact me if I didn't write this clear enough.
