| That's why many of us do it, right? The FAA (and NTSB if you had to challenge any adverse FAA action) will view using drones as part of a farming operations as a commercial activity falling under the new rules.
Think about how trucking is treated. There is specific language in the Highway Spending Bills exempting farmers and ranching from having to get CDLs and exempts them from other regulations aimed at the trucking industry. The key is there is a specific exemption. The various farming and ranching associations, like the National Cattleman's Beef Association and others, spend our dues money lobbying for things like that. There is no farm exemption in the new drone rules. Without an exemption, the rules are going to apply.
