| It is a very fun toy! But the practicality of it depends on the use. If you do use Infrared or NDVI like Andy suggested you can get into a mess of high costing equipment. That being said, applied right, it can pay itself off in a season if your bad areas are bad enough. Otherwise, if you go with a regular camera like those on the DJI Phantom series, you can get in at a relatively low cost, and see more of a broad view like Andy said again. That can be helpful in depicting patterns, seeing something in the middle of the field you may miss otherwise, and getting an overall idea of the heath of the crop in a particular field. There are flight modes that allow you to accurately fly at lower speeds while recording so you can fly the field, upload the data onto a computer and really pick out issues. And now with the 4K cameras and the 4K displays on some newer laptops, desktop screens, or even TVs, you can see detail like never before. | |
