It will work if it is all dead ripe(glyphosate burndown ?).As with swathed flax, high humidity or a little evening dew will make it wrap on every rotating part of the combine. After you are done you will have to rake, bale, burn the straw to get rid of it,unless your combine has one of those super choppers like the latest Newholland combines have. We went to a stripper header 7 years ago to get away from the wrapping and straw disposal problems with flax. It works great,no straw goes through the combine,so none can wrap or need to be disposed of. We also use the stripper header to harvest spring wheat, which nearly doubles the combine capacity. The extra snow/moisture from the tall stripper straw gave us a good wheat and flax crop this year in spite of only having 5 inches of rain this year. Our JD 750 separate placement drills seed right into the tall stripper straw with no problems.
