Check these search listings for more than you want to know about grease thickener.

Clay thickener is listed as used in non melt grease,as the clay is not affected by temperature. 

what does the JD tec say about JD poly urea grease ? It is listed as having the highest oil to thickener content of any grease. I really liked how long it lasted on JD 750 closer wheel seals.

You should also be able to do a search for the MSDS of you grease. It should state everything used in that grease including which thickener type is used.



As an example,your IH grease MSDS lists it as having a metallic soap thickener down the page in section 12.
