Thats what I was always told too. Given that corn produces more tons per acre than alfalfa it's only logical to conclude that even corn silage would return more biomas to the soil than alfalfa. As an alfalfa grower I can tell you from first hand experience that alfalfa is highly overrated as a soil building crop. It's one of the best miners you can grow.
