Milford, Illinois | I have had a couple of AWD Safari vans. The latest is an '02 model. I can get 18 mpg on trips if I drive the speed limit, like 55 to 65. But I have trouble getting more than that. I guess if I would keep it to 55 all the time it would do a little better. Short trips will go 15 or 16. They aren't a bad van. The design is a little outdated compared to the ones with sliding doors on both sides. The engine is a little hard to get to if you need to work on anything. They may ride a little stiffer than the smaller ones. The seats are a little harder to remove than the smaller vans. They do have more room, though. Leg room on the front, passenger side is limited. I always had running boards on mine as they are a little harder to get into than the small vans. They are built strong enough to pull a trailer well. The power is very adequate, but they are no hotrod. | |
