Subject: RE: It is not difficult to Over Gross a GA plane.

Little River, TX
Many years ago in Northern Maine a Cherokee 6 leaped off the ground with 6 Full Size Men going to South Carolina to play golf.
Temperature at take off was minus 20 degrees.

A smart kid in the office was thinking, and did a rough weight and balance and figured the plane was 200 pounds over Max Gross.

Kid called the pilot on the Unicom and advised of the problem and suggested he not take off with full tanks when they get to a warmer climate!

I liked to say that a Citabria could do acrobatics, carry two full pilots, and carry 100 lbs of luggage, just not all at the same time.

It is not unknown for the owner to be in conflict with the Pilot in Command with safety taking a back seat.
