Subject: Stabilizer arm on JD 930 flex platform

Pittsburg, Kansas

We have a 98 model 930 flex JD platform that runs on a 9610. The combine has 2000 seperator hours so I would imagine the 930 has maybe 1200-1500 hours. The stabilizer arm that bolts onto the top of the wobble box has been problematic over the years. The two bolts would break off so they were drilled out to larger size and that held better. The bracket cracked out at the bend radius so that has been welded. Yesterday the bracket broke in two from fatigue just below where the spring loaded stabilkizer arm attaches so now it is welded. The two small bolts and the bracket either are inadequate for the load or we are somehow overloading it.

Obviously this part/area is either under engineered or we are doing something wrong either in operation or adjustment. Is this a common problem or just us? Is there a fix? I don't ever recall having any problem with our 925 but we probably didn't get to the hours that is on this head.
