My Dad bought a 1980 835 in about 82. And we used it till 97 for about 3500 hrs. I've always said it was the most trouble free machine on our farm. In that time the most major work we did to it was replace the gear shift and fix the alternater. The gear shift is kind of crude on the older Versatiles, but when we did change it we discovered that there is a grease zerk on it under the rubber boot. They are a little light so we had quite a bit of ballast in the tires. Never had trouble with the hinge joints. I now have a 946 and the cab is a huge improvement, the shifters arent much better, but all around a simple trouble free tractor.
