Plowboy is close, but in this case, the S indicates a 'S'etback axle. A FLD12064ST is the more "aerodynamic" hood with about a foot between the leading face of the tire and the front bumper, while the FLD12064T is the set forward axle, where the leading face of the tire is but a few inches from the front bumper. Severe Duty Freightliners would have the model designation FLD12064SDT. FL in the model is fairly self explanatory, the D is the most common model, sharing common body parts from 1989 to 2001. Before '89, they were FLC12064T or FLC12064ST, these were the flat hood trucks, set ahead axle T, and the set back axle ST, which quite possibly is the ugliest truck ever made by Freightliner. Now, the C model is back, as the new Century and Columbia models share this designation. The 120 is the bbc measurement, or (front) bumper to back of cab. The FLD120's have the hood latches on the back of the fenders, while the FLD112's have the hood latches on the side of their hood, which btw, is 8 inches shorter than it's big brother FLD120. For the guys who like the looks of a hooded Petercar but lack the funds or dealer close by, the Classics are FLD120T and Classic XL's are FLD132T. All the 120's share a common, plastic, breakable dash, and the same doors, which the best way to close without killing yourself is to crack the window open a tad. I won't even begin to go into the old cabover FLA and FLB models.... Sorry for being so long winded........
