Leesburg, Ohio | Fan size will not have much to do with how much moisture it loses in the bin, other than a smaller fan will take longer to cool, maybe allowing a little more moisture migration out of the kernal. Farmboy is about right. We take 22% corn to about 135 degrees in the dryer, which comes out about 17%, and 18% corn to about 120+degrees, which comes out at about 16 to 16.5%. We run 210 in the top plenum, and 180 in the bottom, and adjust unload speed automatically with a DMC. Cooling then dries it to 14.5 or 15%.
Testing hot corn is tricky at best. Our little DJ portable is a total joke. The Steinlite in the shop is fairly accurate if you let the sample cool to about 100 degrees first.
I agree with Russell as far as trying some, take a sample, and adjust from there.
