Conger, MN | Have any of you researched growing livestock feed in greenhouses?
I got a tour of the facility in Sioux Falls 4 or 5 years ago, and it seemed interesting . . .but I felt it was decades away from being used in any large scale application, at least in rural areas in the Midwest.
However, it seems the manufacture/developer has worked out deals with some producers.
As land prices, labor costs and equipment costs, and fuel expenses all climb, I wonder if this will become more attractive.
The company's link is below. I certainly are not endorsing them, as I don't know enough. However, considering how land prices have driven many people in the Midwest out of the cattle business, this concept seems to have some merit. I'd like to see an independent study of the economics.
