Subject: Fixing old house, worth doing?

Galena IL
Have a farm I bought that has a house that is about 100 yrs old. Has a good foundation, good roof. slate siding that looks ok. The inside has not had much maintenance done to it in the last 40 years. Local carpenter estimated about $18,000 to make it a good rental / employee housing. It sits in the middle of the farm so I will never sell it off. Also in the Scales Mound school district which is a very highly sought after school system. Doze it in or fix? ... Dennis
