Don, if JD office works for you I would not switch.
The latest version of Apex (2.0 beta) seems to work better and is less of a space hog then all previous versions.
I ran it on a laptop that would bog down with the old versions but had no problems with the 2.0.
Laptop had 1gb of ram and a 1.6ghz processor.
