Subject: RE: Juicer

Juicers are a bit like other 'trendy' appliances- breadmaker comes to mind- that get used and really appreciated a few times and eventually languish in the back of a cabinet somewhere when the novelty wears off, kinda like a whirlpool tub. Of course there are people who use them regularly and really enjoy the benefits, but I believe they are a minority.

That said, there are basically two types of juicers- 'squeezers' and 'grinders'. Each has their place, depending on what you want to make juice from. We have a grinder (somewhere) which is right for firmer foods like carrots or apples. Probably for strawberries and other soft foods, the squeeze type like Aussy Harold has would be better.

Do some research (and maybe some soul searching) before deciding which is better for you. You say you are willing to pay for quality, which is smart, but you might consider a cheaper version to really test whether a juicer fits your family's lifestyle. If it does, but the cheapie is inconvenient/unreliable, that would be the time to invest in a better machine.
