Best wishes to both of you, there will be brighter days for both of you.
My wife had a stroke at 61, paralyzing her right side since. Still wheel chair bound, but in positive good spirits all the time.
Her favorite saying is I could be dead, you know.
the bright side for us is she is still here with us and it has been over 26 years now since her stroke. her doctor (since retired) was amazed she has made it this long. He just did not know how determined she was at the time.
She is slipping a little over the last year but still with us, so that is a plus.
