When buying, buy the freshest bags they have. Often have to look in the back of the shelf if they rotate the stock. Also buy from a store that goes through a lot of product. You're likely to get a fresher bag. After opening, squeeze as much air out as possible before resealing. The stuff I buy from Sams Club looks like its almost vacuum sealed.
