Western Oregon | Mom made soup, she said it was poor mans salmon. She went through the depression in Kansas, and her Mom LOVED fish, any fish but especially catfish. If I caught any fish, she wanted them, even suckers. (She also loved squirrel and gravy) Grandma called it chowder. She put some small diced potatoes and onion in the pot, added raw milk (cream and all, may have even added cream from the other jar) when tender and lots of butter, then added the fish. I also remember lots of pepper. I love smoked salmon chowder....James
