Northern Indiana | Been a while since I've had an HP printer, but seems they preferred a particular wifi channel.
I assume you're on 2.4ghz, so you should be on either channel 1, 6, or 11 on your router.
I think it was 6 or 1 that was preferred?
Something to try at least
EDIT:
And also make sure Wifi Direct is turned off in the printers settings (it broadcasts its own wifi network that can compete with yours, this feature was for folks to print wirelessly that don't have a wifi network of their own)
