Yes it is, hence why this set i delivered a week ago was the last set of fats i'm feeding for people. I raised my prices to $2.90/lb hanging weight and you wouldn't believe how many people thought that was absurd and i was gouging. I explained how it converted to live weight and what fat cattle were selling at sale barn locally but they still thought the same.
I had one customer who skipped buying in 2023 but had bought in 2022 and she screen-shotted the price i charged from spring 2022 at $2.35/lb hanging weight and asked why i can't honor that same price. Little bit different market 2 yrs ago... I don't know maybe in comparison it's because there's still a fair amount of people selling freezer beef for $2.60/lb. locally but selling below the market just doesn't make any sense to me.
Yes last time it went up I "buffered " the increase a bit, but when it goes down they seem to forget that, customers I have left are very good about it though. Kind of a one way street. |
