Is RTK really necessary?

Sorry...didn´t want to make such a big thread. JD backups RTK with SF2 when loosing the RTK Signal. That´s a fact and that is what I see in europe. Maybe in the states there are no or less restrictions when sending DGPS via radio, so it works better there.
But if you want to go with RTK you need a company which is able to do a perfect radio planning before you install a fixed base then you will get full coverage with RTK and there will be no need to backup the system!
The advantage of RTK is as mentioned the higher accuracy and nearly no convergence time.
