Grain farming has been through some extremely profitable years. Prices drop, interest rates go up and suddenly some think everything is going to hell in a handbasket. Emotions tend to swing the pendulum quickly. Irrational exuberance turns to irrational gloom and doom.
Farmers dropping big money on new equipment they can't justify other than it avoids taxes will chew through liquid capital pretty quick. Some of the iron purchases I have seen as of late make absolutely zero sense.
