On the Trazodone , it had a stimilating effect on me also so cut beginning dose down to 25mg and that worked. Over time I built up some tolerance to it so gradually worked dose up to 100mg. It sure helps me get to sleep and helps stay asleep for 6 hrs or so. But. you are right, old sleep habits are very tough to break.
