NENE | I have an RTK base where I just put a globe with the little rubber antenna on a post. I happen to have a radio tower formerly used for a VHF 2 way radio base but is not used anymore. It's about 80 feet tall on top of a hill. I was wondering about getting an actual RTK base antenna and putting it on that tower. The problem is nobody in my circle would want anything to do with climbing that tower. If I just built a standoff for the tower and mounted a decent antenna 20 feet up how much good would that do? I was thinking maybe if it wasn't all the way on top lightning might not be as big of an issue. Could you make a standoff out of wood or insulate it from the tower to help with lightning? | |
