| I am buying a couple dairy heifer calves with the plan to milk someday.
They are 3 months old and 5 months old, weaned and on grain and hay with their current owner.
I’ve gotten conflicting advice, so wanted to ask here, along with free choice grass hay, should I put them on an 18% calf starter from my local mill, or should I get a lower protein grower feed from the mill or a product like Kalmbach 14% heifer pellets?
Interested to hear what others do. Small scale so no corn silage or anything fancy. | |
