Melancthon, Ontario | Dad used to grow millet for a bird seed company. Wildlife loves the stuff. Likes N but also has poor legs. When its headed out and seed is filled the stalks have a similar feed value to timothy. If you dessicate the crop the straw loses palitability. In our 2500 heat unit area we can plant it the end of june and combine it in september. Wildlife will spread it around a bit. It's trizene resistant other than that anything that kills foxtail or annual grasses will take it out. | |
