Subject: RE: Spring Oats in MidAtlantic

Clearville, Pa.

We grow oats every year. Fourteen miles north of Maryland line. Heavy on P and K no more the 70lbs N. Yeild is not in volume but in test weight. Oats hates heat. Test weight on mine last year was only 33lbs, year before 39. Planted AC Nicolas last year from Reeve seed Canadian oats. 250 lbs triple 19 made 90 bushel but only 33lbs test. Got very hot here in May 96 degrees thought oats was going to be failure was about 14 inches tall got 2 inches of rain and took off again. lots of straw. the 250 lbs of triple 19 is all seed man recommended..
