Subject: RE: how about

Yes Vailcat we have a unique ability to pi$$ off our best customers and have for a couple generations. In the 1970's our best customer was Japan. But actions by Russia in the great grain robbery, that pushed food inflation had a greatly negative result just 2 years later. The massive unreported Russian Wheat purchases along with Nixon taking us off the Gold standard, helped push inflation of food and many others things. In 1974 Japan our best bean and corn customer started buying substantial grain products from us Nixon got nervous about another bout of high inflation, so to combat this Nixon put on a worldwide grain export embargo, but not only that but he also cancelled all grain commitments and previous unshipped purchases by Japan. This event triggered the massive investment by Japan into Brazil because they needed a dependable grain supplier they could count on. In 1975 as part of his Whip Inflation Now ( WIN ) President Ford again put on a world wide grain embargo, which only helped push countries of Southeast Asia to Brazil. The embargo`s were not the only problem we had with Japan, we were about one generation removed from the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor and the screaming and hollering of how this country was letting those sneaky, rotten, evil Japanese buy this country or take it over without ever firing a shot was running rampant. Fast forward to 7 years ago the fever pitch over how China was the base of all of this countries problems . And how they were going to take over this country unless we put a stop to it, our answer was we are putting tariffs on all goods coming into this country from China , the Chinese response was as predictable as the sun rising in the east, they matched us and put tariffs on our goods going to them then knowing they still needed the food stuff we grew decided to follow the path of Japan and invest heavily in South American infrastructure. And yes I do understand that Biden has done nothing to try and solve the issues with China but also I understand that Trump has stat3d if elected he will raise tariffs to 60% on China. Nothing like taking a failed policy and doubling down on it.

Now it seems we have started well down this path with what is our new best customer Mexico, how long do you think they take US claiming they are the root of all our problems before they also turn to our competitors for their needs. You are correct Uncle Sam makes poor policy that effects us all, the problem is that so many scream and holler at him to make those policy mistakes.

And we do it over and over again or so it seems to me.
