N.W. Ohio | So I’ve read several articles that claim nitrogen efficiency is poor in high mag soils due to lower oxygen levels within the soil profile. They also claim microbial activity is lower in a low oxygen environment so there is less N being released naturally in the soil. This all makes sense to me and I think it holds some merit.
Does anyone have real world experience with either.
A)Lowering your mag which obviously is a long term solution to this problem but takes a lot of time and money to achieve. After lowering your mag did you notice better N efficiency?
B)Cranking up your N units to “get by” in the short term until you achieve your long term goals.
C)Would adding more sulfur help this situation out?
