NE Iowa
My Mg base sats range from 25-35%. I am right at 1#N/bu on corn on bean ground. And end of year stalk nitrate tests say I am about right. I have no cheap source of gypsum nearby. All the local lime is loaded with Mg. Most my fields are on gravel roads where the dust is high in Mg. Steep river bluff fields and the limestone rocks under the topsoil is high in Mg. So for me trying to lower my base says is probably a losing battle. Just live with slightly less N efficiency and tile the wet spots.
