coast of Maine | Case, here the cause would be the frost beneath that is preventing downward movement of moisture.I am not sure of your area. Here we get copious rains often when the ground is frozen beneath.Crazy mud at times, this year not so much as it was mild.So as this is a constant issue we always need a very thick course gravel base.Being the simplest and cheapest ,bank run course gravel at least a foot.If your base is there to support heavy rigging and only slimy on top the solution is 3 or so inches of crushed stone(3/4 in)spread over, this will work in well and firm up really mucky surfaces.Plowing snow over it is not so easy until its all worked in over a summer /fall time frame. Its the angular surfaces of the crushed stone that makes it work well. | |
