When I was little there were a collection of horn weights in the barn. They were different sizes and weight collars with set screws in them. Put them on the horn, tighten the screw. He would use them after the horns were about half size to make them point forwards, like cartoon bulls. Before the weights when the horns were small he would drill a small hole in the tip of each one. Then put a piece of wire across them and twist together adding more twist once a week. This would make the horns curve towards each other. This was done for show animals going to the fair.
